It seems that December was a blast month for me!
I was not expecting to earn a lot compared to my previous months of writing.
Well, I can’t blame myself. I was productive last month because of the Christmas break, and I managed to focus more on my writing career.
I know that this might be a late update, but I still want to document my earnings last month on all platforms that I use so I can compare it to my January earnings progress.
I love seeing my progress.
Medium
In Medium, I earned a gross income of $167.66 (unrealized income). I was not expecting to earn this amount considering that it is just my first month.
Unrealized income because I am still waiting for the payment this month. I expect it to arrive next week. There will also be tax deductions which is around 15–30% if I am not mistaken, I will share an update once I received it.
Don’t get me wrong.
I joined Medium last 2021, but I learned that my country was not listed in their Partnership Program, so I wouldn’t earn anything from them.
But last year, in August, they posted a story that they added 77 new countries to the program. So, I went back to Medium and wrote consistently.
I think it was all worth it earning $167.66 in my first month.
This year, I want to continue writing on Medium even if it is just short posts.
However, I will make sure that I make it informative and meaningful so my readers will still get value from it.
Hive
Last month, I was also active on Hive and managed to earn $55.82 in author rewards and $6.39 in curation rewards, having a total of $62.21.
All stats are based on Hivestats. If you are confused and asking “what is Hive”? Then you should read more information about it HERE, or don’t hesitate to send an email to me (check my bio). Please, before joining Hive, make sure to ask for help because it might be confusing at first, so you will need my guide.
I am trying to be active on the platform by creating short-form posts on InLeo and Snaps, and then also engaging with other writers.
I also publish long-form posts on my account and join prompts of different communities.
I still find Hive worth it this year, considering that the price of HIVE is currently moving upwards.
I also consider HIVE as my long-term investment, so I will continue supporting the community.
Website
On my website, I managed to earn $0.52.
Yes, just a few cents.
I just applied to Google AdSense last month, and, it is already a huge amount for a beginner like me.
For now, I focus on creating more content on my website, marketing, and promoting it to gain more traffic.
I earn from ads, after all, so gaining massive traffic is my top priority.
Also, it all starts on my website.
I write and publish on my website, then repurpose it to Hive and Medium to maximize my earnings.
I think I have the right to do this because I own the content that I share, and it is good to know that I distribute my content to different audiences.
In total, I managed to earn $230.39, which is huge enough for me as a student.
Here’s the breakdown:
- Medium: $167.66
- Hive: $62.21
- Website (AdSense): $0.52
I think this is a good start!
This month, I feel I will have slow progress because we are now back to school, so I can’t write much, especially long-form and evergreen content.
Overall, I hope to reach at least $100 again this month.
