When I started working with this client in July 2023, their website had content but almost no organic visibility. They were getting around 112 monthly visitors from search, 73 clicks over the entire year based on Google Search Console, and a PageSpeed score of 19.
After 1 year, we had a significant change in their traffic where we increased it to 556.25% monthly traffic based on Ubersuggest monthly traffic result. Here’s a quick summary of the progress:
- In 2023, we only have 954 organic keywords and after 1 year, we now have a total of 1373 organic keywords. This is a 43.92% increase.
- Last year, we only had 112 organic monthly traffic and now, we have 735 which is a 556.25% increase after 1 year.
| SUMMARY | |||
| July 2023 | July 2024 | % increase | |
| Organic keywords | 954 | 1373 | 43.92% |
| Monthly Traffic | 112 | 735 | 556.25% |
| Domain Authority | 55 | 57 | 3.64% |
| Backlinks | 534 | 720 | 34.83% |

This had a real impact on their business. More leads started coming in and their online exposure grew noticeably. On top of that, their domain authority and backlinks improved on their own, without us touching off-page SEO at all.
How I Manage To Increase Their Traffic With On-Page SEO?
Before editing anything, I made a site audit on their website to identify what is working and not. There are four problems that I focused on:
First, there were no internal or external links anywhere in the blog posts. The content was completely isolated, which made it harder for Google to understand the context of each page and harder for readers to stay on the site.
Second, the keyword targeting was too broad. The client was going after single-word terms that were competitive with no real chance of ranking, instead of longer, more specific phrases that matched what their actual customers were searching for.
Third, most posts had no images, and the ones that did had no alt text. This was a missed opportunity both for user experience and for giving search engines additional context about the content.
Fourth, the formatting was inconsistent. Titles weren’t optimized, headings were either missing or misused, and there was no clear structure guiding the reader through each post.
What I Did
Internal and External Links
I went through each blog post and added relevant internal links to other pages on the site, plus external links to credible sources where they made sense. This helped Google crawl the site more effectively and kept readers engaged longer instead of bouncing after one page.
Keyword research
I used Google Keyword Planner and Ubersuggest to find long-tail keywords that were realistic to rank for and matched the actual intent of the client’s audience. I then rewrote or updated titles, headings, and key sections of existing posts around these terms.
Images and Alt Text
I added graphics to posts that had none and wrote descriptive alt text for everything. Beyond SEO, this also made the content easier to read and more shareable on platforms like Pinterest, which added another small traffic source on top of organic search.
Proper formatting
I restructured posts to have a clear hierarchy: a strong H1, subheadings for H2 and H3 sections, and a readable flow from intro to conclusion. I also rewrote meta titles and descriptions to be more click-worthy in search results.
Technical SEO
On the technical side, the one thing that I did was compress the image files. The site had a lot of scripts and heavy assets dragging down load speed. Compressing images without noticeable quality loss pushed the PageSpeed score from 19 to 25. It’s not a huge jump, but it contributed to a better crawl experience and slightly faster load times for users.

Overall Performance and Progress
Overall, it has a significant change after 1 year of hard work with SEO. This is the summary of clicks and impressions.
- In 2023, we only had 73 clicks based on Google Search Console and now we have more than 4000 clicks.
- Last year, we had 3000 impressions and now we have more than 100,000 total impressions.
| SUMMARY | |||
| Description | July 2023 | July 2024 | % increase |
| Total clicks | 73 | 4040 | 5434.25% |
| Total impressions | 3019 | 115000 | 3709.21% |
| Avg. CTR | 2.3 | 3.5 | 52.17% |
| Avg. Position | 35.4 | 33.4 | -5.65% |

It has a huge change and I would say that all of our hard work was paid off. But the bottom line is that SEO is a long-term process, you will not see the results after 1-5 months.
You have to be patient and make sure that you are updated when it comes to Google and SEO updates. Don’t be discouraged when it comes to the result because it will take a lot of your time to see the progress.
