My first week on Medium was a blast!

I started writing on Medium since 2021 – but I was never an active user. I just read for free and just checking new ideas on what should I write, and not even posting any story.

This month, I decided to give Medium a try.

I paid to become a Medium member for about $5 and started posting consistently for the whole week.

I did this to join the Medium Partnership Program for the FIRST TIME!

Guess what?

For the whole week, I earned a total of $19.58 from my posts. I know that it is only few compared to other writers out there. But as a first timer to join the program and just for a week, I believe that it is a huge milestone for me.

my first earnings on Medium

My story that helped me to achieve it is this one, my post about optimizing your Medium profile and get more visitors.

It seems that readers love this story because I hit 1.5k claps immediately and a total of $15.67.

It is my highest-paid story so far and still counting, I hope Medium will continuously show this on everyone’s feed. It is important to note that I started posting on Medium consistently in the last week of November and paid a premium plan on December 6, 2024.

Laurence becoming a Medium member

This was my stats right after becoming a Medium member:

Here is my stats after 1 week of becoming a member:

I got 47 followers in the first week of writing and 98 clappers – I would consider this as viral content.

However, you will see a sudden drop in my statistics after the first week. I guess Medium doesn’t recommend my content anymore. Hence, I still find another way how can I viral on Medium by reading other’s viral content.

I continue to write and experiment the best content that I should share on Medium and how can I help other writers to “hack” their Medium growth.

As of now, I consider Medium as a platform to become a side-hustle and a business especially if you are just starting in the writing industry.

I should go back in a week to give more updates, so far, I am loving Medium and taking the platform seriously.
