My journey on Medium started years ago after I learned that it is a very good place to start your writing career as a beginner because you don’t have to overthink a lot of stuff. The platform itself is a blogging machine, with a huge variety of topics to write on and several writers who will potentially read your blogs.
However, after learning that my country was not listed on the Medium Partnership Program, I was discouraged from continuing my journey. I also had issues with publishing, which I did not experience before starting my journey. Hence, I took a break and decided to announce that I am leaving the platform for good.
Understanding Medium Partnership Program (MPP)
It is a program of Medium, a way of monetizing writers. The writers get paid for their works based on their views. I haven’t delved deeper into how it works yet, but the simple explanation is that it is a way of monetizing on Medium.
It is important to join the program especially if you want to start your writing career and get paid for your work. On top of that, you don’t have to start your own community because you are now building on top of a huge community.
This program helps a lot of writers start building their writing business and live their lives because of writing. Now that my country is listed on MPP, I am so happy that every writer here can also start their own story and get paid for their work.
I’ve been seeing users before from my country who were writing here on Medium but weren’t getting paid for it because we were not listed in the program, meaning, they were not earning money from their work and just writing for fun.
While this has an advantage to them, it is still frustrating to share every content and idea that you have but not get anything from it because let’s just accept the fact that we should get paid from our work. Of course, this is different from every user’s perspective, but here is mine!
My Medium Comeback!
Now that the Partnership Program is now available in my country, I decided to start writing again here, not only because I might get paid but I can see the potential of Medium to drive traffic on my website.
This was one of the opportunities that I was taking advantage even before, I can get a traffic from the huge userbase of Medium with same mindset and perspective when it comes to my niche.
Aside from that, I am seeing Medium as a perfect place to look for users who might be interested with collaboration especially for those users who are just starting out like me. You see, I have been writing for over three years but I feel that I haven’t unlocked yet my full potential as a writer due to inconsistency.
By joining to Medium, I am hoping to achieve this and become more consistent with my writing process. I want to learn and know more users with the same mindset and start growing together. I also love the stories of writers since I often read content here despite leaving the platform completely.
My Plans on Medium
If you are reading my content since the beginning, you might know that I am always interested to the topics such as personal finance, money, investing, productivity, and digital marketing. Hence, I will be focusing in these niches and start investing my time and effort in doing this like a real writer should do.
From researching, writing, and drafting my ideas into my laptop and second brain. I will also take advantage this huge community and have a goal in mind to build my audience. As of now, I have some few users who are subscribed to my newsletter in Medium and to my website, but I am aiming for more! But of course, I will do this one step at a time.
I won’t be writing only, I will also interact and comment to other writes – this way, I can grow my audience while giving back to the community. I believe that I can be successful not by only just writing a lot, I should be also making friends and starting to build relationships with other writers; my motto is always learn, earn, and build camaraderie. I do this in every community.
Advice for other writers who are newly added to MPP
Like me, every writer who are now added to MPP should do the same. I am encouraging everyone to join this initiative and grow together. I cannot do this by myself only, I need someone to join me so I will be more consistent with my writing process.
I would say that this is also the way to start your own content creation business as a writer and do not miss this opportunity to earn money from your work. Who knows? You can live your life by just doing the same!
This Medium comeback is a huge step for me as a writer. I never thought that I would be coming back after leaving the community. In addition, I am also building my brand in other communities and giving my full effort into them, but I am taking this opportunity because I see Medium as a platform to invest in in long term as a writer.
If you are still reading this now, I am inviting you to join this journey and help me to hack the algorithm! You can always comment and give some claps in this post so I can get the attention of other writers who have been added to MPP recently.
Of course, this post is not only for writers who have listed to MPP recently, this post is also for those users who have been writing here for a long time and now earning to MPP.
What advice you can give to everyone who is just starting their writing career here on Medium?
Give us some tips and advice to hack the algorithm!
For writers who are not listed yet, I would say that you shouldn’t be discouraged! Don’t follow the same path, you should be writing more and building your followers. So, when your country becomes listed, you already have an audience that will support you to another chapter of your writing career!
