How To Rank Your Blog Post on Google: I Rank My Post on Top 1

I have been writing SEO posts and tutorials since before and finally, my hard work is not in vain because my website is now getting the attention that I have been expecting for years.

But I know that this is not a permanent outcome, this will change drastically over time until I lose the rank position on Google.

My last blog post was all about a review blog of a product that I bought from an online store and it is now getting a rank on Google. I never thought that this would be happening but I looked closely into this blog post and I am still getting traffic every single day.

One thing that I love about this is that I did not focus that much on keyword research, but I focused on the keyword that might hook the interest of the readers and what most people do when researching for a product.

In the first week, it was not getting any attention then I was shocked that I was getting daily visitors from different countries without making any promotion from any other social media.

I just bought the product, tested it for a week, wrote a review, and then hit publish. I never expected any traffic because it is just a simple blog post, but I was hoping to get commissions from sales because I used some affiliate links from my blog.

Though I am not getting any sales, I know that having daily traffic on my website is a huge milestone for me because finally after 3 years of working in the SEO industry, I can finally write and share my real success story though I already helped businesses with this.

I helped businesses with SEO by optimizing their blog posts and keyword research but I realized that getting this success on my own website is just a huge achievement for me. For now, I am trying to write more content on my website even if it is just a simple blog.

What I am targeting is to build traffic organically without thinking that much about researching and proving that AI cannot replace writers.

I don’t want my blog to be a place with so many technical and formal blog posts. I want it to be people-friendly where they can read direct-to-the-point helpful blog posts and with a touch of personal experiences.

I want to follow Artturi Jalli from Medium to write an evergreen post that has a touch of human experience and real engagement for my readers.

So how can you rank your blog post on Google?

Do not overthink your content

I want to be natural when it comes to my content so I always try not to put much technical on my writing process. When I have an idea to write, I write it down in my notes, write everything on Microsoft Word, and then proofread and optimize it with SEO.

Create content that will help your readers

I am not a niche writer. This is the reality. I just write what I want on my blog but make sure that it has a touch of SEO. You don’t have to think complex when it comes to keyword research because the truth is, you have a lot of competition out there.

What you need to do is focus on your audience and provide the information that they will need.

Think like your readers

When I write a blog post, I do not complicate things. I just think like I am the reader or person that will search on the internet. For example, if I am eyeing a product that I want to buy and I don’t want to spend my money, I always do some research for that product before buying.

Here are the keywords that I always search for:

  • [name of the product] review
  • Is [name of the product] good?
  • [name of the product] price in [local place]

So, when I am starting to write, I make sure that I include these keywords on my blog posts thinking that my readers are searching for the same keyword and might get traffic from it.

This is exactly what I did for the blog post that is now ranking and competing for a specific keyword.

The Bottomline

One thing that I learned and realized is that you don’t have to write for Google or for the bots and crawlers. What you need is to focus on the content that you are writing to provide information for your readers. You should point out what they need and do not forget to share a personal experience – or even just curated content or research from other sources.

On the other hand, you have to take advantage of the algorithm of Google and optimize your content with the correct usage of the keyword that you are thinking that people are searching for.
